The Model 1897 Trench grade was an evolution of this idea. The pre-existing Winchester Model 1897 was modified by adding a perforated steel heat shield over the barrel which protected the hand of the user from the barrel when it became over-heated, and an adapter with bayonet lug for affixing an M1917 bayonet.

It is an original trench gun and is in really good condition with one caveat - the heat shield was ripped off. It still has the bayonet lug, but the original guy ripped the heat shield off. One of the Ivanhoe 1897 trench guns was just sold by Rock Island Auction for over $38,000. It was a nice one, and I guess the provenance drove the price that high. None of the Ivanhoe guns were US marked. At one time, I had a rather minty WW1 US marked Trenchgun I bought from a high end dealer for $4,000.
